I believe all learners and tutors bring a different language learning and teaching philosophy. Learners usually hold this philosophy implicitly instead of explicitly. Moreover, the philosophies are informed by people’s learning and education experiences since childhood. I can opine that my former knowledge of other languages helped me learn English, but I think the teaching approach is responsible for much of the knowledge gained. Other language discourse patterns are not easily transferable to standard English. Lou and Noels (2019) recommend selecting specific teaching methods and grammar activities that suit ELL contexts. The entire language learning experience has also provided insights into the importance of the intercultural language learning approach. The model believes that intercultural and language learning are critical parts of a whole. (Lou & Noels, 2019). It is challenging to understand intercultural challenges without being aware of the intrinsic core components
Intercultural language learning uses an intercultural model to explore language. Besides, error-correcting by tutors has always happened during tests if we reflect on language learning experiences, which shows that most individuals do not learn during lessons. However, learners are highly encouraged to peer-correct, self-correct, and monitor their errors in non-formal contexts, which implies that the best language learning occurs when the student is aware that they have committed a mistake. Thus, language learning should be conceived as a process that takes practice and interaction.
